Our family wanted to see this in the theater, but we never made it there. We thought this movie was very funny and had several plot twists we didn't anticipate, making it a cut above some animated features. The look of the film is very good and crisp. It had its own style that we liked. The story line was fun and the Minion-speak is a hoot. Queen Elizabeth II's character is over-the-top and funny, but not mean. We'd recommend it for a laughing evening's entertainment.
I went to the theater with my six year old nephew and five year old niece (at the time)
We all thoroughly enjoyed it, had us all laughing hard. I never saw the despicable movies but that didn't seem to matter. Awesome movie for the whole family!
This movie is a prequel to the Despicable Me. I recommend this movie because it is hilarious. It is a good movie to watch with the family. Lots of laughter!

“Minions” is an adorable and funny movie. This was the movie that started the extreme minion rush. Everyone became obsessed with these cute little yellow creatures and I am guilty of being one of them too. I'm really glad that they decided to make minion inspired merchandise as well. My favourite character in this movie is king Bob, he is just too cute and funny. Bob is just “one in a minion.” That is just one of many quotes based on the movie that took over the internet when this movie was released. This is a really nice family movie and I would recommend it to children who like hilarious and sweet characters who are on an adventure. I rate this movie a 4.5/5. @TheBookieReadingMonster of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library
Minions is a great film. It tells you about the first masters they served before Gru. So, basically this the movie before Despicable me happened, background knowledge. This movie is based around single-celled yellow organisms at the dawn of time, Minions live to serve, but find themselves working for a continual series of unsuccessful masters, from T. Rex to Napoleon. Without a master to grovel for, the Minions fall into a deep depression. But one minion, Kevin, has a plan; accompanied by his pals Stuart and Bob, Kevin sets forth to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow. Their search leads them to Scarlet Overkill, the world's first-ever super-villainess. This movie is funny and will take you on an emotional roller coaster. I love how they show the bond between the three minions. I would recommend this movie to kids aged 5+. My favourite character would have to be Bob because he is the kindest most gentle and warm-hearted minion, he is adorable. I loved how the trio of the minions each had a different personality like Bob was the sweet one, Stuart was the serious and smart one and Kevin the funny and hungry one. Overall, this is an amazing movie! 5/5. @TheBookWorm of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
People complain the heck out of this movie online, saying stuff that their is already to much of them in previous movies, and they are so childish and annoying, but really, Minions is not half bad. The plot surly is not new, with the usual underdog story routine, but in those regards, it does not do poorly. Kevin goes from a crackpot to a hero for his tribe, and having to undergo the task of saving his entire people. The other two main characters, Stuart and Bob, are honestly, less then perfect. Stuart just tags along with the others and literally does not change his lazy bum attitude, and Bob just remains the cute comic relief throughout the movie to. Cute, but still bland and one dimensional. The movie's villain, Scarlet Overkill, is what you would expect from a kids movie, but it was a little bit nice that they added the fact that she was once a lonley girl when she was younger, and that was why she turned to a life of hatred and villany. It surly is not award winning character writing like Thanos or Mr. Freeze, but it was okay for what this movie is. For real, Minions is not a bad watch. It has its pit falls and dumbness, but that is what makes it great. It is a fun kids movie that anyone can enjoy, like how candy is usually loved by kids, but older people can get a kick out of it! So if you want some despicable fun, laugh your way to Minions, a movie that is truly bananas! 3.5/5. @BooksRUs of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
Esta película es muy chistosa, es de unos dibujos animados muy pintorescos tienes que verla.
What do people see in this movie? There is nothing good to say about it. Bad plot, and they were serving evil, even after they stopped "What's Her Name", Sandra Bullock. Sandra Bullock should know better than to be in a movie that are "heroes" are outlaws. They insulted the bishop, which is a disgrace to GOD! Not at all recommended.
The expected amusing antics from the chuckle cherubs, but without the heartwarming presence of the three little ex-orphans.
Sandra Bullock made a fine villainess.
Minions is a fun family movie that the the whole family would enjoy. Silliness from the very start of the movie makes it fun!
Bright candy colours and non-stop cartoon silliness all set to a groovy 60’s soundtrack place this one firmly in the realm of family entertainment. For the tots there is enough frantic action to bridge those short attention spans and the adults will enjoy the nostalgic tongue-in-cheek spoofs of everything from The Beatles to the Moon Landing not to mention an oh-so brief cameo from Richard Nixon attending a Super Villain Convention. Goofy, irreverent (monarchists and anglophiles beware!), and revelling unabashed in cornball humour, this instalment may lack the novelty of the first films but when it comes to comedy those lemony stumblebums are all golden.
MINIONS was more funny and mature than I expected from those little yellow jellybean figures dancing in the background of DESPICABLE ME. In fact, it was downright enjoyable, which surprised me more than I can explain. Not just for the kids, I would easily recommend MINIONS as a family film where you can be sure that all will be entertained.
We quite enjoyed this little movie. Not as good as the Despicable Me films of course, but still entertaining and we thought several parts were LOL funny! A lightweight plot to be sure, but I wasn't expecting War and Peace so wasn't disappointed. Sandra Bullock as the 'super villain' fell flat but in love with the wee minion Bob. Great for a movie when you have people over & aren't in the mood to be serious or when kids need to be entertained.
very disappointed in this movie.. was hoping it would be nearly as good as the despicable me movies, but this fell far from it. not a very good family movie; had several vulgar scenes, inappropriate for younger kids, even for older kids.
Worst Despicable me series movie I've ever seen. The other ones are 4 stars. This one? Just... NO!!
This was ok. But way ruder than Despicable Me. Typical cartoon. Funny enough, but just a little dumb. Despicable Me was way better.
