Baker & Taylor
On the way to her wedding, Chief of Police Holly Barker is sidetracked by a high-tech bank robbery that results in murder, and she makes a startling discovery that plunges her into the very center of psychotic criminality.

Blackwell North Amer
Holly is on her way - with her steady beau, Jackson Oxenhandler - to a once-in-a-lifetime celebration, when the festivities are shattered by a brutal crime that takes place too close to home. A highly disciplined team of men hits a local Orchid Beach, Florida, business, and the waves from the robbery nearly capsize Holly's life. She vows to find the culprits - who have been careful enough to leave nothing behind except the corpse of an innocent bystander - and soon she discovers evidence that leads her into the midst of a clan whose members are as mysterious as they are zealous. Holly's father, Ham, a retired Army chief master sergeant, is her ticket into the strange world this group inhabits, and what Ham learns there boggles the minds of Holly and her FBI contact, Harry Crisp.
Holly and Ham are sucked into a whirlpool of crazed criminality, and in the end, even the FBI can do little to help them. This time, Holly, Ham, and Daisy are on their own, and they wouldn't have it any other way.

I thought the story began great. I really like Holly. But Orchid Blues was more about her father's work with a subversive group. A good guy, but I wanted to read more about Holly. The end was not as good as his previous book involving Holly. Daisy, her doberman, had no part in the story other than occasional window dressing. The conclusion left a lot of loose threads hanging in the wind.

Fast moving with lots of twist.
Orchid blues introduces my favorite character STONE BARRINGTON.
It also set up for coming series.
This is Stuart Woods at his best.
