"The long-awaited crime caper so outlandish, so maniacal, so wickedly funny, it could have only come from the mind that brought you Artemis Fowl. Daniel McEvoy has a problem. Well, really, he has several, but for this Irish ex-pat bouncer at a seedy, small-time casino the fact that his girlfriend was just murdered in the parking lot is uppermost in his mind. That is until lots of people around him start dying, and not of natural causes. Suddenly Daniel's got half the New Jersey mob, dirty cops and his man-crazy upstairs neighbor after him and he still doesn't know what's going on. Bullets are flying, everybody's on the take and it all may be more than Daniel's new hair plugs can handle. And Daniel's got to find the guy who put in those hair plugs--or at least his body--and fast, or else he'll never get that voice out of his head. Head-spinning plot twists, breakneck pacing and some of the best banter this side of Elmore Leonard's Detroit, will keep you on the edge of your seat and itching for more."--Publisher.
When his girlfriend and several people close to him are murdered, Daniel McEvoy finds himself targeted by the New Jersey mafia, corrupt cops, and an eccentric neighbor and searches for a hair-plug technician who may hold crucial answers.

If you like a good Elmore Leonard, this is great. Very funny.

Well I guess all books should have their 4 star and their 1 star reviews. Maybe since I listened to the audio version I have a different opinion, but this was not a well-written story

Was very surprised by how much I loved this quirky novel. None stop action and humor.

I read the new HGG by Colfer and loved it.. my kids read the Artemis series but I kept this gem a secret from them for when they grow up.. very entertaining and touching but the adult themes are not for children's reading.. brilliant story from beginning to end.

Absolutely bizarre! But it works.

Checked this out since my boys love his YA series. Pretty exciting with lots of twists and turns.

I have not read this author before this book. I just had to try after seeing all his YA books and boy, what a book. Funny, off the wall and quite a bit odd. It was intriguing enough that I will certainly read the sequel if there is one.

Hilarious! The poor guy is really having a bad time of it, but you can't help but laugh. Great writing style. The plot twists kept you guessing how on earth he was going to get out of it. I really hope a sequel's on the way.

Whew..what a ride. Daniel has the worst week of his life since leaving the army. It's a tale of non-stop action, crazy characters and lots of laughs.Sort of like a darker Tim Dorsey.

Absolutely delightful. As an "adult" fan of the Artemis Fowl series of books for children and young adults, I was curious to see what Colfer could do when he set out to create an adventure targetted at adults. My expectations were not very high but the author blew past them in the first chapter and never let up. Slick writing, enjoyable off-the-wall characters, humour, and unexpected twists of plot. This reader couldn't ask for more.
