As far back as Lisa (Witherspoon) can remember, her life has been defined by sports. Then, in the blink of an eye, she's cut from the team. With her identity in crisis as she attempts to regain her footing in life, Lisa begins dating Matty (Wilson), a Major League Baseball pitcher and notorious womanizer. Meanwhile, terminally honest businessman George (Rudd) finds himself on the road to financial ruin or worse after being wrongly implicated in a financial crime. As George struggles to clear his name and reconcile his turbulent relationship with his father, Charles (Nicholson), a chance meeting with Lisa at the lowest point in both of their lives leaves him optimistic that things may work out after all. Meanwhile, Lisa and George both realize that the only thing that's certain about the future is that we never know what fate has in store for us.

How Do You Know has a strong first half, and a bit of a stranger second half. However, it is overall a good movie that I enjoyed. Plus Paul Rudd is in it.

So so movie. Chick flick. I kept on expecting it to get better or something exciting to happen but..........didn't really. If you just want to zone out and watch a movie, it's okay.

hmmmm. Well. It's a quiet and unassuming little film. Owen Wilson as the self-absorbed jock seemed typecast? (We know people like this.) Paul Rudd as the emotional puppy that gets used by others just made us want to yell "DUDE! Seriously?! Stand up for yourself". He finally does... now having said that I think that many women would melt into a puddle for a guy like that. Reese Witherspoon is played (yet again) the somewhat dopey gal but this time SHE is a jock! Interesting turn. (Watch the extras to learn about her practicing and the ball players in the movie.) Jack Nicholson has never been on my top ten yet he's not bad as the dad of Rudd's character who is shady. Would not have paid to see this in the theatre but it didn't require an arts degree to watch. Date movie? Sure, why not.

PS I agree with CalicoJack about the wardrobe too!

I must admit that within the first half hour, we were about to stop the DVD and watch something else. Fortunately, it was just barely interesting enough to keep us hanging in there to see some of the outcomes.

Cute. Reese is cute again- nothing new there. Story was average at best. The rest of the cast was also above average.

I was really surprised by this movie. I thought the issue surrounding Paul Rudd and Jack Nichlson was odd but I really enjoyed the movie.

OMG this movie sucked so bad, I just couldn't believe it. I couldn't warm up to any of the characters, the plot was boring (actually, what plot??). I can't believe I wasted almost two hours of my time watching this.

This movie wasn't worth the time it took to watch (121 min.). It's supposed to be a romantic comedy. However,it lacked romance and comedy. It was flat from start to finish. Don't waste your time.
