Mr. Hercule Poirot -- you fancy yourself, don't you, at solving mysteries that are too difficult for our poor thick-headed British police? Let us see, Mr. Clever Poirot, just how clever you can be.

When renowned detective Hercule Poirot receives a letter informing him of a murder that will take place on a certain day and in a certain town, he doesn't take it very seriously -- until he learns that, indeed, a murder happened just as foretold. Alice Ascher was killed in the town of Andover.

Now, in addition to Alice Ascher, Betty Barnard of Bexhill and Sir Carmichael Clarke of Churston are also dead. At the scene of each murder, an A.B.C. guide is found beside the body. A serial killer is on the loose -- someone who is determined to play games with the great Hercule Poirot. Hercule Poirot is a brilliant detective, but can he get inside the mind of a psychopath?

I actually kind of predicted how it would end, since I saw something similar on a murder mystery TV show, but I was still really surprised by the ending. It was really great and another work of genius from Agatha Christie.

Poirot at his best. Agatha Christie does it again!

Agatha Christie has done it again. This celebrated author has blown the minds of her readers with her exceptional book The A.B.C. Murders. Known for her genre of murder mystery novels, Christie has added this book into “The Hercules Poirot Series”, revolving around the well-known detective and his colleague Captain Hastings.
Hercules Poirot and Hastings receive a letter, saying that there will be a murder one day in a certain town. While they don’t take it as a serious threat, the murder does indeed take place. In a town called Andover, a woman named Alice Ascher was killed. The only clue left behind was an alphabet guide. Unsettled, Poirot later finds that a woman named Betty Barnard was murdered, followed by a man named Carmichael Clarke. These killings continue, gaining predictable patterns and losing them at random. It quickly becomes obvious that there is a serial killer around; someone who sure knows his ABC’s well. Poirot and Hastings work together to discover the identity of this mysterious murderer in Christie’s unique novel A.B.C. Murders.
Agatha Christie never fails to keep readers guessing with this novel. While first published in 1936, The A.B.C. Murders is still a modern enough read today, with its language and fast moving pace. This book truly showcases Christie’s skills as a murder mystery writer and has become a classic of hers. To enjoy a creative plot and engage in captivating suspense, The A.B.C. Murders is a great choice for your next read.

Another great Christie mystery. Let me simply say, what seems obvious is not always correct.

Poirot is at it again! And this time he must overcome obstacles within and without. Although Hastings is as oblique as ever, and the conundrum of the alphabetical order of the murders is contrasted with the ABC railway line schedules that are left with each body, how will they stop before they reach Z? And there is no use in looking at the chapter headings, Dame Christie was far too clever to let that be a clue! Just try and figure this one out before the end!
