Text very small and hard to read. Drawings are a little crude, but effective. Story okay, if a little dull.

I found this to be a great first person narrative of one person's experience of WWII. Alan didn't fight in the war; however, his experience is no less valuable for that. This is an accessible record of one person's experience.

interesting concept of a comic book depiction of Alan's wartime memories.

Unfortunately he didn't get there until after the fighting and the book really has nothing to do with WWII itself.

Not earthshaking blood and guts, but a refreshingly non-bombasic non-chauvenistic account of the WWII military and then subsequent civilian life of US soldier Alan Cope.
The book is a biographical comic strip commencing with his youth as a paper boy in Pasadena, California, through his induction into the US Army, training as an armoured car gunner, arrival in France February 1945, subsequent advance through France into Germany, and then Czechoslovakia, occupation duties, discharge and repatriation to the US, reunion with family, pursuance of a theological career, disiilusion with religion, and life in the United States, and migration to France where he settled.
