Great dystopian, post-apocalyptic book/series. I gave it 3 stars because these types of books interest but don't captivate me. Anyways, alot happens in this book. It goes from Eve being in Califia, to being a Princess, to losing all she loves. Woah. Okay, I kind of predicted that the King was Eve's father, but the whole thing with Pip, Ruby, and Arden just broke my heart and made me hate the King so much. Then, everything with Caleb?!?! (Major spoiler alert ahead) Okay, when I picked up this book, I wasn't expecting some George RR Martin crap with killing off main characters. Ugh, the worst part is, a little bit of me is happy it happened. This way Eve can focus on taking over New America and fixing everything that's terribly wrong with the whole slave system they got going on. Still, I can't believe they killed Caleb. Does this mean Eve will marry Charles, then start falling in love with him or something? Who knows

I wish the 3rd book was ready to read.

The plot line is poor and the character development and inter-problems are weak. The story line revolves around wanting a boyfriend not the actual underlying problems.

i read this book and loved it. caleb cant be dead, i think it will be revealed he somehow survived the shooting. that wouldnt make a happy ending if he was dead i am sure all the loose ends will be ted up in the last book. but i have to wait a whole year. ooooh. it ended on a cliffhanger

When you’re being hunted, who can you trust?

For the first time since she escaped from her school many months ago, Eve can sleep soundly. She’s living in Califia, a haven for women, protected from the terrifying fate that awaits orphaned girls in The New America.

But her safety came at a price: She was forced to abandon Caleb, the boy she loves, wounded and alone at the city gates. When Eve gets word that Caleb is in trouble, she sets out into the wild again to rescue him, only to be captured and brought to the City of Sand, the capital of The New America.

Trapped inside the City walls, Eve uncovers a shocking secret about her past–and is forced to confront the harsh reality of her future. When she discovers Caleb is alive, Eve attempts to flee her prison so they can be together–but the consequences could be deadly. She must make a desperate choice to save the ones she loves . . . or risk losing Caleb forever.
