A father and son embark on a road trip to a distant animal shelter to save a homeless border collie puppy.
Dad and Ben haven't been getting along and Dad hopes a road trip will help them reconnect. But Ben is on to Dad's plan and invites Ben's thuggish buddy, Theo. The family dog, Atticus, comes along too and the story is told by Ben and Atticus. When their truck breaks down, they commandeer an old school bus and its mechanic, Gus. Next, they pick up a waitress escaping a tense situation. Only sharp-eyed Atticus realizes that Theo is on the run. Dewey: F. Ages: 10 and up

A fun and enjoyable story about a father, a son, a dog, a roadtrip, and the friends they make along the way. My only complaint is that one of the characters who is judged and dismissed based on his physical appearance is proven to be more than others' judgements, but is also forced to change his appearance as part of his acceptance.

This book reminds me of my road trip to Wisconsin but not the shelter part it is sad
