I did not find this book as useful as most people would, because I'm a strict vegetarian. But, judging by the few recipes that I could try out, it's a great book.

True confessions - I have watched Michael Smith's cooking shows on t.v. for years. I love his simple approach to cooking using simple everyday food staples.
His recipes have two features - today for tomorrow and how to store your finished product.
So many good recipes to try!

I made the lentil curry and it's fabulous. Easy to make. I would change one thing, though: slightly reduce the amount of coriander seeds used in this recipe and also grind them coarsely. Eating whole coriander seeds is not for everyone. Flavour is enhanced as days go by. Keeps well and freezes well. Nice texture. For a more watery dhal, use a bit more water, but not too much or it will turn mushy. Flavour of this curry is amazing.

I think this is a wonderful cook book-didn't have time to try any of the recipes but photocopied a few.
The make ahead Butter Chicken looks amazing-can be easily doubled for a crowd. Oh- the De Leche Coconut Squares-be making these babies!
