"The Warner Pier tourism committee is kicking off its Tough Guys and Private Eyes film festival with The Maltese Falcon, and Lee Woodyard and her aunt Nettie are preparing a delicious chocolate noir tie-in at TenHuis Chocolade. What Lee isn't prepared for is a face from the past: Jeff Godfrey, her former stepson. The last time Jeff showed up in town, he wound up being accused of murder. He says he's in Warner Pier only to see Bogart on the big screen. Honest. Then Jeff goes missing, the Falcon theme is haunting everyone, and a body falls at Lee's feet when she opens the front door-- just like in the movie. Now Lee is under deadline to rewrite the ending of a cunning killer's increasingly convincing murder plot"--Page [4] of cover.

The Chocolate Falcon Fraud is the 15th book in the Chocoholic Mystery series by JoAnna Carl. A chilling mystery combined with sweet chocolate recipes ensures you will enjoy this great novel. The book takes place in a quaint town in Michigan and revolves around Lee, her ex stepson Jeff, and his girlfriend. I appreciated that the plot developed quickly as Jeff already goes missing in the first chapter. Then, a murder occurs and the rest of the book is dedicated to finding the murderer while a noir film festival opens in town simultaneously, emphasizing the sinister mood. I would definitely recommend this book to older teens and adults as the book may get boring with its heavy use of fine details and a complex plot overall. On a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate this book a 4 because although it was not the light read I was expecting, it was still a fascinating mystery novel.
