"In 1989, a killer dumped the body of twenty-year-old Lucie Martin into a picturesque lake in the west of France. Fourteen years later, during a summer heat wave, a drought exposed her remains--bleached bones amid the scorched mud and slime. No one was ever convicted of her murder. But now, forensic expert Enzo Macleod is reviewing this stone-cold case--the toughest of the seven he has been challenged to solve. But when Enzo finds a flaw in the original evidence surrounding Lucie's murder, he opens a Pandora's box that not only raises old ghosts but also endangers his entire family."--From publisher.

This novel is one in the series involving May's detective, Enzo. While the action occurs in France, the plot is not all that dependent on the setting as the murders could have occurred anywhere. I read the novel as a stand alone novel not having read other titles in the series. This novel dwells alot on the relationships of the detective and how the people he knows and trusts seem to be implicated as suspects in his attempts to solve the murder mystery. It is a complicated web. Easy, however, to skim over those family relationship paragraphs and continue with those that move the murder plot along. May writes well and those novels of his that I have read are enjoyable reads and keep me signing out his detective books.
