Eerily, the locals are nowhere in sight, yet the Herons have a creeping feeling they are being watched. Suddenly the silence is broken when a massive, marauding bear appears, advancing on two children. The crew springs into action and rescues the children from the bear's clutches, which earns them the gratitude and friendship of the local Mawagansett tribe, who finally reveal themselves. But the peace is short-lived. The Ghostfaces, a ruthless, warlike tribe who shave their heads and paint their faces white, are on the warpath once more. It's been ten years since they raided the Mawagansett village, but they're coming back to pillage and reap destruction. As the enemy approaches, the Herons gear up to help their new friends repel an invasion. John Flanagan’s The Ghostfaces - Brotherband Chronicles - Book 6 was my '20th' John Flanagan book although I have read every Ranger’s Apprentice Series book between four and nine times. I read my first Flanagan book 'The Ruins of Gorlan' when I was 16 in 2011. I am looking forward to seeing his books on the silver screen.

If there is any series that will make a reader out of boys 8 to 16, this is it. My father who is over 65 years of age enjoys these books too. Highly recommended for young boys and girls by Doctor-at-Bass! T. Adams.

John Flanagan’s The Ghostfaces - Brotherband Chronicles - Book 6 was a little slow for me at first. It was my 20th Flanagan book and perhaps for that reason I found it a little mundane at first. The Ghostfaces really do not become a part of the book until half way through the book. However, I did enjoy the second half of the book and rate the book as good. Senior Doctor-at-Bass! D. A.

In this thrilling link to the chain of the Brotherband series, John Flanagan has literally crossed the borders of the Endless sea to capture us in his writing. When the crew of the Heron and their young captain are caught in a storm and blown across the ocean to lands unknown, they don’t realize that they will have to battle a three-meter-tall bear with a lousy mood, fight a native over a lady and be needed to fight a foreign war for the natives welcomed them in this new land. The audience will feel as if they are in the story all the way, whether in Hal’s beloved Heron, pitched and tossed in the sea, or in the foreign forests looking over their backs at shadows and noise in the dark. Spun on a spindle, ingredients being suspense, mystery, a little bit of romance and a lot of thrill, it is sure to attract audiences of all ages. It will keep the younger generations in awe and hope of being in as thrill as Hal and his loyal group.

Another great chapter in this series about friendship, adventure, and an unlikely group of heroes. This book really drives home the power of appreciating and respecting other people's gifts and strengths. It doesn't shy away from hard issues either but explores them thoughtfully. A great series for boys and men too.
