FYI There have been some very thorough rebuttals of the premise of this book. For example:

Persuasive arguments. The author makes the point that the reader needs to keep an open mind- and he's right. I walked into this with firm points I was sure he didn't account for or wouldn't consider worthy of inclusion (the human cost; externalities) and such things were covered! I still disagree that consumerism/capitalism is the answer, but McAfee provides a strong argument that it maybe isn't the worst option either.
