What beautiful drawings, and a nice story! My 6-year-old daughter loved it.

Julie Flett's Birdsong is stunning—a new favorite of mine. A young Indigenous girl and her mom move away from familiar land to a new home. As the seasons change, the girl befriends their elderly neighbor. Both are artists—Katherena loves drawing, and Agnes is a practiced potter. When Agnes falls ill, Katherena helps bring the beauty of nature inside her home, "a poem for her heart." This book explores intergenerational friendship, coping with change, and the wisdom of children, including three words in Cree. Flett's illustrations are warm and magical.

This is a nice story that my 5yr old liked very much. It is about developing friendship between a little girl and an old woman and the compassion the girl has shown for her new friend.
