Oh goodness, this one was hilarious. I am a rom-com queen, and I loved this new and original take on the genre. It follows baseball star Gavin Star as his marriage begins to crumble, when he finds out his wife has been faking it.... In swoops the Bromance Book Club, which is a group of elite men who read romance novels to solve their relationship issues. Yes, the hilarity just ensues from there. Along with the main plot of Gavin and his wife, you read chapters of the romance novel Gavin is reading as his guide which immerses you even further into the story. The only reason this one wasn't a five for me is simply due to the excess of sex scenes and the extent of detail included, they just seemed too much and very unnecessary. That aside, there are two others in this series, and I am very excited to read them!

I don't usually like married romance novels but this is a refreshing take on the theme. It's well written with likeable/lovable mains, a fun cast of secondary characters including a couple of lovable little girls, a refreshing storyline and some sweet sex. This is my first Adams effort; I'll be sure to try some other titles.

I read a lot of romance novels, but this is probably my favorite one of the last few years. I loved the story of a married couple learning to reconnect and communicate. Full of laugh out loud moments, even my husband loved reading this one.

How hard would you work to save your marriage? That is the question Gavin Scott has to ask himself. Apparently he is willing to join a secret romance book club for men. This fun and adorable romance book talks about the issues of toxic masculinity and the effects it has on men developing deep, meaningful relationships.

The end will leave the reader wanting more from this gaggle of wonderful characters.

I listened to the audio version of this book. My first by this author, but it kept me hooked to the app like nothing else has for awhile. It's one of those that you want to get to the end of to see what happens, but you never want to end.
The premise of a popular jock using a Recency Romance to win his wife back is fantastic enough, but when there's a whole "book club" of guys encouraging him because they have done the same, it is just almost too fantastic for the mind and heart to accept. Super swoon-worthy steamy scenes didn't hurt any, either.
The narrations by Andrew Eiden and Maxwell Caulfield were just what this book needed. Superb!

A New & Noteworthy Fiction pick. A star baseball player and his wife have gone from happily married to pending divorce. His teammates suggest he joins their top-secret book club. The secret? They read romance novels. Can reading a good Regency romance save a marriage? It’s very fun to find out.

The main couple in this book are married and recently separated. Gavin is desperate to save their marriage, while Thea has accepted its demise. I enjoyed the unique take on this married romance story, but it was an emotional struggle not to be offended for Gavin. I was becoming incensed at how one-sided the responsibility of the marriage's breakdown felt. A third of the way in, Gavin was still shouldering all the responsibility. Common sense says one person alone is rarely the problem. The author wasn't convincing me that Gavin's offenses were worthy of his groveling or his alone, I should say. I also wasn't feeling empathy for Thea since the author had portrayed her as fairly bitter most of the time, even though she married Gavin while knowing the demands of a pro-baseball player. By all accounts, he seemed like a great husband, aside from their breakdown in communication, which ironically, seemed to be more Thea's problem.

By the end, there was turnabout, but I felt like the author waited too long to show Thea's vulnerable side. The book did have some light and funny moments. The idea of a romance reading male book club was fabulous. That aspect of the book introduced some great secondary characters who elevated the story a little. I really liked how the author handled the ending and reconciliation, but I would have preferred more of a balance when it came to responsibility between the husband and wife throughout the rest of the book.
