Cringe at the cover if it is your wont (which certainly is mine), but Lisa Mantchev spins a delightful tale -- with imagination enviable, and one which I've rarely seen before. The Shakespearean qualities were certainly present, and the Theatre was a magical setting. Not a skein of the plot is wasted... the author is unafraid to include a lot of drama and emotion, which only adds to the overall marvel of the story. The setting (esp. the fairies, the Book, and the ever-changing mood-that somehow works-) takes a lot to get used to, though! Occasionally wince-worthy and questionable, still fine. Eminently recommendable!
