A group of Generation-Z casual friends live in a future world bubble city infested by monsters from the wilds outside the bubble. Our group of friends find work for HUNTR, a popular gig economy phone app where people with monster problems hire monster slayers. The concept is creative and the colorful art is vibrant and neon. Sadly, this book reminds me of a social media feed: shallow, colorful, full of current meme humour, but leaving you feeling like you've wasted an hour scrolling through a vast digital ocean of fluffy nothing. The plot is extremely shallow, the world-building opportunity is vast but mostly ignored, and the characters are always speaking in those flippant one-liner satirical jokes that were popular in bad action movies during the 1990's. I suggest you swipe left on this one.
