Slaughter is the queen of cut and paste. (Did you notice how she added nearly 100 pages to this book with copy and paste?) I was annoyed with the use of copy and paste in her series books, so I thought I'd try her stand alone book, and I was shocked at how much was repetition. She does change details in the repeated story of the mother's death, so we can't just skip through even the fifth time she tells is.
Yes it is annoying, and yes, she enjoys the gory and disgusting things she has happen to her characters, but there is still a very good story, and most of the writing is above average. This is NOT suitable for teens of cozy mystery lovers.
