Very disappointing. My wife and I found this movie to have very erratic pacing, leaning heavily (pun intended) to the ponderous side. It also gave poor explanation of what was going on at times for those who aren't already intimately familiar with the details of the history (eg. my wife). And not one character aside from Armstrong was fleshed out, even his wife, kids, and friends who die (and we're supposed to feel bad about) are so two dimensional they are almost one dimensional. Having seen Gosling in several movies now, I don't think he is a good casting choice for stoic or non-emotional characters (e.g. First Man, Bladerunner 2049). He is brilliant in more emotional roles (e.g. La La Land). There's supposed to be a difference between stoic and wooden. Then again, maybe it is the directing, as there were several other actors in this movie who were dull and wooden whom I have seen do well elsewhere. Definitely not worth the 2hrs 21min.
