I was so disappointed with this book. I picked it up thinking it'd some cool YA spooky mystery/thriller and instead I got a trashy terrible teen romance with poorly portrayed PTSD symptoms and no plot. All the characters were unlikable and were literal walking cliches, the dialogue was painful in some places and Oh my god, was Noah the worst. It's like the author knew he was a terrible character and just tried their absolute hardest to make him likeable but instead just made him worse. I don't care if he's actually just "Shy" or has daddy issues/tragic backstory, he's still a terrible, annoying, can't-take-no-for-an-answer, possessive, and dumb character. Mara was manipulative and just a total monster to her mom, and she just didn't do anything. I also really didn't like how the author made going to therapy seem like a bad thing for like half the book. Going to therapy is fine, there's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm sick of books making it seem like such a bad thing. It's low key toxic. Stop it.
The plot was nonsensical and I regret the hours I spent reading this dumpster fire.
If you like 85% bad teen romance filler than go right ahead and read the Unbecoming Of Mara Dyer, but it's not my cup of tea at all and I'm really pissed and sad I couldn't like this book.
